Climate & Housing Wins in Miami

Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke from the heart and made change happen! Last night, residents of Miami alongside GenCLEO, Miami Climate Alliance, Catalyst Miami, Engage Miami and other partners rallied outside Miami City Hall to demand investments in climate and housing. See video for highlights.

And then together we lined up to speak at the budget hearing, sharing personal stories and our passion for preserving the city we love.

And guess what?

Afterwards, Commissioner Ken Russell announced the addition of $388k for a new Chief Resilience Officer, Deputy Chief Resilience Officer, and Program Manager totaling team of 5 (currently a team of 3). They are also allocating an additional $5 million for legal and relocation assistance for evictions.

Big wins for climate and housing in Miami!  But these items haven't been fully approved, so join us for the next hearing to ensure that these additions stay in the budget.

NEXT BUDGET MEETING: THURSDAY SEPT 23 @ 5PM
Miami City Hall -  3500 Pan American Dr, Miami, FL 33133
