Miami-Dade schools commit to 100% clean energy

In an unanimous vote, the Miami Dade school board passed a resolution to commit to 100% clean energy by 2030. This is a huge win for the students and parents who've advocated for years!

"Freshman School Board member Luisa Santos said her proposal sets a “north star” for the district. It calls for creating a “Clean Energy 2030” task force by May 26 that includes an expert appointee for each of the nine School Board members, a School Board student representative, and representatives from Miami-Dade County Council PTA, each employee bargaining unit and from the superintendent.

Their job is to conduct a review of current sustainability measures across all departments and develop recommendations and an implementation plan to be presented to the School Board by the February 2022 meeting."
